An important question is looming over the tragic event known as “Extortion 17”.
When will treason charges be brought against those who betrayed our warriors and their families?
There are two perpetrators in this tragedy. Vice President Joe Biden, who personally exposed the Navy SEALs as the ones who eliminated Osama bin Laden, recklessly and publicly, on two occasions, is the first. The second is former CIA Director Leon Panetta, who revealed CLASSIFIED intel, to a Hollywood screenwriter, naming the unit, SEAL Team VI DEVGRU, and revealing the ground Commander personally, by name. Apparently, the American public has not recognized these acts for what they are, or more people than just the families of the fallen SEALs would be demanding justice, and they should be.
It must be understood, that revealing the fact that Navy SEALs were the ones who eliminated bin Laden, is big enough in itself. The news of bin Laden’s death was large enough on its own as a huge victory for all Americans, given what has occurred on, and since, September 11, 2001, when our nation endured unspeakable terror on our own soil. There was, and is, no compelling reason that the world needed to know who actually pulled the trigger, and ended the life of Osama bin Laden. However, that is exactly what was done, when not only was it revealed that Navy SEALs were the elite unit who performed this task, but also it was narrowed to a specific unit. This not only named the men involved, thus putting a target on their backs, but also pinpointed and targeted their family members. A unit consists of 15 to 17 men. To reveal which unit was involved was a devastating blow, causing extreme, imminent danger, and concern, to each of those men and their families. That revelation is what led Aaron Vaughn to contact his mother Karen Vaughn, and urge her to shut down all social media and exercise extreme caution. This was only days before he, and 37 others, were killed under questionable circumstances when their Chinook helicopter went down in a crash in the heart of Afghanistan.
There are many questions in this unfolding story, which beg to be answered. At the moment, as reported to me today by a member of one of the families seeking justice, the one question which is most pressing is: “When will charges be filed”? One must wonder why they have not been filed already. Clearly, revealing such information is treasonous, and yet the two perpetrators have not been held accountable. Truly, it is unfathomable that people employed by us, hired, appointed and elected to represent us, would commit such atrocities. Politicians, and elected or appointed officials, paid by the government, work for us. Therefore, they should be held accountable for their actions, in the same manner as they receive accolades for their accomplishments. How often have we heard this administration pat itself on the back for ending the War on Terror, and eliminating Osama bin Laden? It was arrogantly stated, repeatedly, during the Presidential campaign, to the point of causing many jokes, and memes to arise, ridiculing President Obama in opposition stating “You didn’t do that. Navy SEALs did that”. Yet President Obama never missed a beat in his effort to capitalize on the accomplishment of this unit. Their reward was to then be betrayed by members of their own government—our own government—yours and mine—and be forever exposed and endangered. Some have paid with their lives, such as Aaron Vaughn, and 37 others killed that night in the Chinook.
Now, it is our time to fight for them. Justice must be done, and those who caused this exposure must be held accountable. Criminal charges of High Crimes against the United States of America must be filed against Biden and Panetta. In the words of Edmund Burke, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing”.
